Jezmynne Amergin is the new science librarian at The Claremont Colleges. She has an office in Honnold/Mudd and will provide reference and instruction services there, and she will also work extensively in both the Seeley G. Mudd and Sprague science libraries. Jezmynne's subject specialties include astronomy, physics, math, meteorology, oceanography, and geography. Jezmynne comes to us from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where she last worked in the Government Documents Library. Prior to that, she worked at the Centennial Science and Engineering Library at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Jezmynne holds a Master's in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor's degree in history and classical philosophy from the University of New Mexico. In addition to her expertise in science and history, Jezmynne is an excellent storyteller who is always looking for an opportunity to weave a tale. For order requests, you can contact Jezmynne at jezmynne.amergin@libraries.claremont.edu.

Khue Pham, our new cataloger, joined the Libraries' Bibliographic Access Services on September 3. Before coming to the Libraries, she earned a BA in French at the University of Dalat in Vietnam and in German at the Goethe Institute in Munich, Germany. She taught German from 1980-1992 at the language institute Eurobildungswerk in Munich. In 1992, she and her family moved to California where she began a new career in the library field. She has worked on cataloging projects such as ASIA specializing in the Vietnamese language, for the Bureau of Land Management and for public libraries. Most recently she worked as a cataloger for the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

Pedro Reynoso, a recent M.L.I.S. graduate from San Jose State University, joined the Libraries as Humanities and Social Sciences Librarian in September. He is the new Chicano Studies, Religion, and Women's Studies Subject Specialist. Pedro considers himself a generalist, having held a variety of information-related assignments during the past four years. He has worked as Reference Librarian at Laney College (academic), Redwood City Public Library (public), and Joseph Azevada Elementary (school). Advocacy for information literacy and access was the common thread binding these experiences. Pedro has also been an Assistant Editor/Translator for El Mensajero Newspaper in San Francisco. His volunteer service includes a one-year apprenticeship at KPFA Community Radio in Berkeley. Recently, he was appointed REFORMA's Newsletter Editor for 2002-03. For order requests, you can contact Pedro at pedro.reynoso@libraries.claremont.edu.

Cara Tabor joined the staff at Denison Library as Circulation and Periodicals Assistant in April of this year. Besides her responsibilities for circulation services and periodicals, she also handles reserve materials and oversees Denison's student staff. Cara has a Bachelor's degree in Film Studies from Boston University. Before coming to Claremont, Cara worked at the School of Theology Library at Boston University and was Head of Circulation for Santa Monica College Library.

Neil Watkins works at Honnold/Mudd Circulation as weekend coordinator. One of his duties is to oversee the faculty study room carrels, so anyone who wishes to sign up for the waiting list should let him know. Neil is also an adjunct teacher, and a Ph.D. candidate in English at CGU. He has taught part-time for the last few years at local colleges, including Harvey Mudd College and Mt. San Antonio College. In between grading stacks of compositions and research papers, he is writing his dissertation on Herman Melville and the sexuality of his narrators. In case you might think he lives at the library like a modern-day Bartleby, he is married and has a four-year old son.

Kelley Wolfe has been working as the new reference librarian at the Ella Strong Denison Library since the end of August. Her responsibilities include developing the Libraries' collections in the arts and classics subject areas, assisting students and faculty with research, teaching library instruction sessions, and caring for the archives and special collections at Honnold/Mudd as well as Denison. Her background is in art and art history, which she studied at the University of Arizona. She received her M.L.I.S. from the University of California, Los Angeles, specializing in information access and the management of special collections and archives. She comes to Claremont from the Getty Research Institute, where she helped research and coordinate exhibitions. For order requests, you can contact Kelley at kelley.wolfe@libraries.claremont.edu.
