The Claremont Colleges' two science libraries, Seeley G. Mudd Science
Library on the Pomona campus and Sprague Library on the Harvey Mudd
campus, experienced a collections move this summer due to the loss
of a floor at Sprague Library.
As a result of this move, subject collections are better consolidated,
with the majority of materials grouped by building by subject. Math,
computer science, and engineering are now located at Sprague. Biology,
chemistry, physics, geology, and general science subjects are now
located at Seeley G. Mudd. There are some exceptions, of course.
Sprague Library contains approximately thirty shelves each of physics
and chemistry books to act as a supplement to the research done
by users of that building. Likewise, Seeley G. Mudd Science Library
will have thirty shelves of math books to complement research there.
Both science libraries have full reference collections, services,
and staff.
Duplicate materials are being withdrawn from the science libraries
in order to make space for what we have and for future purchases.
Withdrawn books will be made available for our library users to
take free of charge for their personal or departmental collections.
Withdrawn math books are now available at Sprague; biology, physics,
chemistry, geology, and general science books will soon be available
at Seeley G. Mudd.
