Brenda J. Weaver, Acquisitions Assistant (Bibliographic Access Services), joined the staff on February 16, 2004. Brenda has previous library services and computer experience with Chaffey Community College and the Alta Loma School District.

The Libraries have also hired two part-time temporary reference librarians, Joseph Aubele and M. Kathleen Svetlik. Both positions are funded by the Libraries’ CLIR (Council on Library and Information Resources) Grant for our Library Services Improvement Project.

We also want to congratulate two members of our staff who have recently completed graduate degrees.

Holly Gardinier, Performing Arts Librarian, was recently awarded a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her dissertation is entitled “Access Points Perceived as Useful in Searching for Music Scores and Recordings.” Additionally, in June, Holly participated in a week-long seminar conducted by Prof. Emeritus Donald Krummel at the Rare Book School, University of Virginia. The seminar focused on the history of American music printing and publishing.

Julie Shen, Publications Assistant, graduated in May from the School of Library and Information Science at San Jose State University with a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.
