Printing ERes Documents

Important — Please read:   Most documents on ERes are provided as PDF (portable document format) files, requiring Adobe Acrobat Reader to view them. Adobe recently introduced Acrobat 5.0 and this new version of the software has introduced some difficulties. When printing entire multi-page documents via Acrobat 5.0, using PCL-driven printers, we have noticed extreme degredation in the final printed image; PS (PostScript) printers perform much better with Acrobat 5.0.

We are in the process of reverting back to Acrobat 4.0 in the Libraries' search centers. If you are printing elsewhere on campus from a machine running Acrobat 5.0 you can avoid degredation of the final printed copy by selecting "Print as image" from the printer options dialog box. Be advised that the printing rate for "Print as image" is nearly one minute per page. This is why we are reverting to Acrobat 4.0 within the Libaries.

We are looking at alternatives that would enable us to continue using Acrobat 5.0. In the meantime we appreciate your patience in this matter, and your understanding that this may be beyond our control.
