Finding Newspaper ArticlesThe Libraries subscribe to many newspapers, both national and international; however, we keep the back issues for only a few of those newspapers. Back issues of newspapers are generally kept in the microfilm collection in Honnold/Mudd. The major newspapers for which we keep back issues includeIf you need to find a newspaper article, several newspaper indexes are available. Be sure the index you use covers the geographic area and the time period in which you are interested. Remember that sometimes the best index for your research needs is a paper index, not an online database. Online Newspaper Indexes Paper Newspaper Indexes If the online newspaper indexes don't meet your needs, several paper indexes, some going back to the 1800's, are available in Honnold/Mudd. The newspapers themselves are available in microfilm If you need to find an article in the Los Angeles Times or another newspaper for a date earlier than the index covers, try looking for your topic in the New York Times Index. Find the dates on which it was covered in that newspaper, then browse through similar dates in the Los Angeles Times. Generally, news topics will be covered during the same time period in all major newspapers.
