Information for Holders of Community Cards
The primary mission of the Libraries of The Claremont Colleges is to serve the
research and information needs of students, faculty, and staff of The Colleges.
In addition, we attempt to meet selected needs of the local community and the broader
scholarly community of which we are a part. Graduates of The Colleges, community
residents, currently registered students at institutions with which we have reciprocal
agreements, and others as specified in the Access Policy
may apply for a Libraries card which provides borrowing and/or entrance privileges.
- To Apply
- Obtain an application form at the Circulation Desk of the Honnold/Mudd Library
from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
(909/621-8372). For additional information, call the Office of the Director of
Libraries at (909) 621-8045.
- Card Types
- A pink Entrance Card only provides access to the buildings; a blue
Borrower's Card provides borrowing privileges as well. Cards are
non-transferable and remain the property of the Libraries of The Claremont
Colleges.
- Cost
- The cost varies depending upon the status of the applicant as defined in the
Access Policy and the type of privilege desired.

staff member and when entering the Libraries.
- Borrowing Privileges

books. Regular books are checked out for 28 days. There are limits on the
number of books which you may have checked out at any one time; and

circulation policies available online.
- Other Services
- Limited reference assistance is available to community card holders.
Handouts explaining many of the services and resources are available at the
Information and Reference Desks in each library. You may register for
regularly scheduled general instructional sessions, such as those on electronic
resources, on a space available basis; however, individual and/or group
instruction sessions cannot be scheduled for community card holders.
Anyone with a PC and internet may access the Libraries online catalog,
Blais.
Copy machines are located throughout the libraries, and vendacards for use in
the copiers are available from the Copy Center.
- Restrictions
- Community cards do not entitle the holder to interlibrary loan privileges, to
access to electronic resources from remote locations, and to certain other
services, including some electronic resources. Students, faculty, and staff of
The Claremont Colleges have priority for use of library resources,
services, and equipment.
- Guidelines
- All community card holders are expected to adhere to all library rules and
regulations, including "Guidelines for Conduct," in effect at the time of library
use. These rules and regulations may be changed from time to time without prior notice.
